The American Medical Women's Association (AMWA) was founded in 1915 - the oldest and largest multispecialty association dedicated to women physicians and medical students. AMWA today represents a community of professionals promoting health; encouraging the professional and personal development of those in medicine, healthcare, and health-related fields; and providing a range of educational, charitable, and awards programs that make a difference. Dedicated to advancing women in medicine and improving women's health, AMWA has educated physicians and the public on a number of health issues including breast and gynecologic cancers, smoking prevention and cessation, osteoporosis, violence against women, heart disease, gender equity, reproductive health, and many others, especially those that disproportionately impact the underserved. AccreditationThe American Women's Association (AMWA) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The American Medical Women's Association designates this CME activity for a maximum of .5 hours in Category 1 of the Physcian's Recognition Award of the American Medical Association (AMA).
